Veiwing kids comp on network

i have been told that i can see what the kids are up to from my computer as
in there screen and what site they are in at the time i do not want to sneak
in on them but would be just to keep an eye on them from time to time. thanks

You cannot do this without remote control software. A better solution is
to put all computers in a public room or get up occasionally and walk
into your kids' rooms and look.

I suggest using parental control fleshware instead. For starters, move the
kid's PCs out of their caves, and into the most public room in your house;
then remind them that parents have a right and an obligation to monitor their
web use, and follow through by looking over their shoulders and checking
their history files.

A very handy freebie for this is realVNC or UltraVNC. I've used both and
they work well. We have foster kids and I do the same, only I let them know
I may do it, and show them how I do it, so they'll believe me.
If you catch them somewhere they don't belong, you also have control of
the screen; you can simply hit the Close on them. Sometimes I'll hit the
Close several times on them and it will not even occur to them that I'm
sitting ten feet away in the living room, checking on them with my
laptop<g>.
It requires you to have a LAN set up, of course, as any other solution I
can think of will also.
