To expound on what Echo said, if you insert a Windows Media Player object
you can select the object and click Properties. One of the properties is
the UIMode (User Interface mode). This is set to full by default which
gives you full controls. You can change to "none" for no controls.

You might try using Insert/Object/From File instead of Insert/Movie.
Off
the top of my head, I'm thinking that this *should* force the WMV to play in
whatever media player you have associated with that file type.
Another option would be to use something like Sorenson Squeeze or
Wildform
Flix to convert to an SWF with a player. Then you'd insert the SWF using an
Active X control, and the video controls would be active. Instrux for
inserting SWF into PPT at
http://www.flashgeek.com
A SWF won't play in the PPT Viewer, though, so be sure to take that
into
consideration if you're distributing the presentation.

I've inserted several long .wmv movies in powerpoint. They play
great.
Is there any way I can add vcr-like controls so users can control what parts
of the video they watch (like fast forward, rewind, play, stop)? Thanks.
