vCard

We are having difficulty when attaching a vcard to an email. It works fine
in-house (did it as a test). However, when we try to send to an external
address the recipient does not receive it. I've checked our av software just
to be sure we are not blocking that type of attachment and we aren't. I also
checked our firewall and I don't see any problem there. Any other
suggestions as to what may be causing this and how we can resolve it?

Thanks.

Explain what steps you're following, and in what version of Outlook. Is the
recipient using Outlook?

We are using Outlook 2003, sp1. Create a new mail message, click on Insert,
Item. Open contacts and select one to send. I'm not sure if all recipients
are using Outlook. I have tried send to a hotmail, aol and comcast accounts
and didn't receive the vcard in any of them. However, in the attachment
window the vcard shows up but in the recipient email, you get nothing.

That command has nothing to do with vCards, which are text files using the
vCard specification. What you are inserting is an actual Outlook item. If
you do not know whether the sender has Outlook, you need to send an actual
vCard. Select the contact in the Contacts folder, then choose Action |
Forward as vCard.

I have done further testing with this user. It appears that when he sends a
vcard to an aol address, the attachment is not there. However, when it is
sent to another type of email account, it works fine. BUT, when I send a
vcard to an aol address (from my workstation), the recipient receives it.
Could this be some type of settings issue? I don't see any obvious
difference between our workstations. Any ideas?

Are you using the Forward as vCard command in all cases?

Yes, he is.

The only way I know of to troubleshoot this would be to get the AOL
recipient to send you back a copy of the raw message header so you can see
what they're actually receiving.

My guess is that the first user isn't really using Forward as vCard.
