Validation lost

Wife's PC crashed and I purchased new HD. The problem is we can't locate the
2nd purchased CD and key. Can we obtain the key from MS when we first
validated?

Use any XP cd as long as it's the same version--Home, Pro etc. Then use the
activation key on the computer case. The operating system cd's are the same,
but you must use the correct key. Look for a tiny Genuine MS sticker on the
tower or on the bottom of a laptop.

When was the last time you activated the 1st purchased CD? If you last
activated it, more than 120 days ago, then if you install it on the 2nd
computer, it should activate via the internet. If it's been less that
120 days, then you can call up and get it activated, as long as you
don't tell the PA phone rep that it is installed on more than one
computer.
