v4.7 Messenger won't run

After I formatted and reinstalled XP Pro, v4.7 of
Messenger will not run. A window pops up, "Messenger has
encountered a problem & needs to close" then you have
the Debug or Close buttons, and Click Here.

Clicking gives you the following: Error Signature,
AppName: msmsgs.exe AppVer: 4.7.0.2009 ModName:
rtcdll.dll ModVer: 5.1.2600.0 Offset: 00009629

Then you can Click Here again to get an error txt file,
which I have saved. Windows Updates tells me it's
installed successfully. I have all updates (although a
weird thing since msblast patch was put in, Updates now
tells me I need SP1 when I have it installed).

I have tried v5, copied a backup of rtcdll.dll from a
backup, someone elses msmsgs.exe file, etc. Removed,
reinstalled, even manually from the registry. No success.

How can I get it working?

If you don't mind me asking, how did you fix the Messenger problem? W
are having a similiar issue and I haven't found anything on thi
particular problem. Thanks for any info you may have.
