Sam

At this point, I am a little anxious about the reliability of the "hot"
image feature of the Z2i Protector, but so far, making a file image backup
for the primary drive, has worked without any problems that I can detect.
However, I have not yet had the need to accomplish a restore with this
program. Previously, I used Drive Image 2002 and the restore worked very
well each time. The only complaint I have so far with the Z2i Protector
program (I believe Drive Image 7 has the same situation), is regarding the
Z2i Protector service that runs all the time and is the top/greatest memory
user on my computer (a Dell Dimension 8200 with windows XP Pro and 512 mb of
RAM memory). I sent an email to PowerQuest last week, asking if the service
could be set to Manual instead of Automatic for the Startup type entry.
However, no answer from them so far. I would appreciate any comments,
experience, and or suggestion from anyone using Drive Image 7 or the Z2i
Protector programs. Thanks, Sam.

TO: Crusty and Bub, many thanks for your reply. Glad to hear that I can set
the service to Manual. I checked the Z2i Protector CD and the computer
appears to boots okay without any problems, and it also appears that I could
restore an image if I wanted to. However, since I have not actually tried a
restore yet, don't know how successful it would be. One of these days I am
going to get a second computer that will be used primarily as a test
machine!

Bub, could you clarify as to how Drive Image 7 let you down? Was the image
backup okay as to image file verify, but you could not bootup with the Drive
Image CD, or where you able to bootup with the CD, but the actual restore
was not completed or successful? I would appreciate it if you could
describe the specific problems you encountered. Maybe together we could
figure out what is happening, and if nothing else, send an email to
PowerQuest requesting their comments.

Thanks again, Sam.
