using Xp and LAN connection as a network sniffer

I am using my computer LAN as a network sniffer
I am using winPcap to access tcp/ip and windump to capture packets
Everything works fine untill I put traffic on the LA
Xp starts spitting out SAP and other network discovery messages
What do I have to turn off in XP for winPcap to be the only user on the LAN

Steve,

You're using WinPCap as a sniffer. Why would you want to stop all non WinPCap
network traffic?

Can you setup WinPCap filtering, to watch only the specific packets you're
looking for?
