I cannot receive or send messages using my Windows email account. I receive
an error message that says something to the effect that I don't have a
connection to "POP3" or "SMTL" server (or something like that). Any ideas?

right-click on the error message, copy it, and post it back here...
and maybe someone can help you.

"POP3" and "SMTL" are not valid server names. You need to ask your
internet provider for their instructions for setting up to use their email
servers. If they don't have instructions for Windows Mail yet, use their
instructions for Outlook Express but under Windows Mail instead. The
instructions are probably somewhere on their web site. Or, you could
tell us who your internet provider is and see if anyone here already
knows where to find them.

If you want to use your Yahoo account, you'll need to pay extra to
use it under Windows Mail.

you need to setup your email accounts according to the information provided by your ISP.

can usually be found on their web site under support.
