Using the "Send To Mail Recipient" function in Windows

I'm using Windows XP Pro. I want a fast and easy way to email files,
and thought I had the solution:

When I right click on a file and choose "Send To Mail Recipient"
(whether the program is up and running or not) Outlook Express creates
a new mail, and attaches the file. Great. I click Send. But the file is
NOT really sent, as you would expect. It just gets placed in the
Outbox. In order to really SEND the email, I must start Outlook Express
and choose Send/Recieve.

Is there any way to have my mail really SENT immediately in the above
scenario? Thanks!!

First, this group is for Outlook, not Outlook Express. Try asking your
questions in
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general .
Second, a mail program must be running in order to actually do anything.
You can't, for example, recalculate a spreadsheet unless the spreadsheet
program is running. No different for mail.
