I have an HP psc 1300. Can I just use the Windows XP
software for scanning and camera image download instead of
the HP software. I am running low on memory and the hp
software package is huge. My computer has the HPpsc1300
listed under scanners/cameras but says it can't find it
when I try to use it or look at it's properties etc.
Thanks!
Lisa

That's a question only you can answer. Connect the printer, if it's
recognized and there are drivers natively within XP that support the
printer, then yes. If, when you connect the printer, it asks you to install
the drivers and/or says it can't find any drivers for the device, then, the
answer is no.

The same is true of the camera. If it's recognized and the OS had includes
drivers to enable the function, then yes. If not, no.

I would like to add one other statement - I have some experience with
the HP 1210 psc: Without the software, the printer and copier will
operate, but not the scanner.
