Using older external USB Mac drive

Is there a way for Vista to recognize an external Mac drive so that I
can format it? Plug & Play sees this as either a USB printer or as a
removable drive without any media inserted. A trial version of MacDrive
7 or Vista's Computer Management don't do much of anything either.
Although I can obtain a menu item for formatting it, that doesn't work
because it senses the drive as being empty.

This particular drive is an older Quantum Fireball LCT15, sold several
years ago by Club Mac. What do I need do for making this relatively
small (30 or 60 GB) drive work with Vista Ultimate? Would I need a
driver for this? If so, where would I even start looking for one for a
drive whose manufacturer has been sold at least twice since I purchased it?

If it's formatted for a MAC, Windows may not be able to see it.
If it is a proprietary MAC disk, you may be SOL.
If it is actually an EIDE drive in an adaptive housing, one possibility is
to remove it from the housing, install it internally & boot from a floppy/cd
& use FDISK?
