using keyboard with monitor

I just bought a new monitor and I need to set the screen's border's heigth and width. But I am not able to do this from the dial area of the monitor like I did with the other monitor I had. When I select a function directly on the monitor a screen pops up with all the options for setting the display but I can't use my mouse to interact with it. I guess I'm suppose to use the keyboard to be able to select. I would like to know how to do this.

RTFM..

You use the buttons on the monitor to select items and change them.

Read the manual that came with the monitor (Thats the reason you get a
manual to teach you how to use the item)

Sometimes I wonder how people even get systems turned on since they
can't be bothered to read the manuals anymore.

Because you did'nt ask if I had a user manual, your head must be as

empty as the box the monitor came in...........THERE WAS NO

MANUAL

empty as the box the monitor came in...........THERE WAS NO

MANUAL

1. Go to the website of the monitor manufacturer and download a
manual.

2. Call tech support of the manufacturer and ask for their help.

3. Go back where you bought the thing and ask them where the manual
is.

These are a few options I came up with in about five seconds. Did you
try any of these first?

We didn't ask if there was a manual, and you didn't tell us the make and
model of your monitor.. I guess that it didn't have either of those too..
would you like to take bets on whose head is emptiest, and are you a good
loser?.. :)

You may find settings in display properties.

Mike, your right, I should have mentioned the make and model but I thought most monitors operated simular. Sorry for that mean comment, thats not like me. I said it because I felt sad that someone would call me dumb. I've only had my first pc for 3 yrs.And I study very hard and if there is a CD or manual or anything on the boards or anything I can learn from, I grab it, study it, and ivestigate it to extreme. I like doing that, it's fun! Even if it takes many hrs.for the info to sink in and finally become clear to me.Again, I'm sorry. I feel bad about it now. Jeanie

Most monitors do have similar onscreen displays, but the button position and
pressing order may differ.. manuals were always supplied at one time, but I
guess that the manufacturers are saving money and also know that the
majority never read them anyway.. it is good to hear that somebody does..

Good luck with setting your monitor up.. and remember the maxim (you may
want to use it yourself sometimes)

RTM = Read the manual.. RTFM = Read the manual.. and a new one, RTFOM
= Read the online manual..

:)

Sorry. Geez.

But, you never once stated the fact that there was no manual with the
monitor.

I have never seen a monitor not come with a manual. (And I have bought
a lot of them over the years) Guess the manufacturers have now
decided that since most users dont read manuals anymore why include
them.

Guess I should never assume anything anymore when it comes to a
manufacturer.

I did all that. The site only has an email for help. So I sent 2 to two diffrent agents. No reply yet.

Thanks Mike for the extra info, it helps.

If you post the model of your monitor, we will easily be able to post a
link to the manual for you ;)

As a tip, there have to be at least 2 buttons, one to open the menu, and
one to select different items. You'll have to navigate until you find
what you are looking for.

Don't let those idiots get you down, there should only be 4 buttons one the front of your monitor, the one on the left gets you in to the menu, the second usualy activates the menu the third one is is the less button the one on the right is the more button, if you can follow that.

when you want to change to a different subject press the left button to activate it then either the far right to move the to the next menu on the right or the second from right to move to the next menu on the left, then activate the menu as above and adjust it.

that simple..
