This just sounds as if your IT folks are taking the sensible precaution
of installing either IE7 or FF2 in a virtual PC. That is, they've got
the issues with IE6 under control, and they don't want to take the
chance of messing up the production systems by installing a brand new
release of either product (or, for that matter "any browsers other than
Internet Explorer 6").
By implication -- and experience -- both IE7 and FF2 are likely to have
some sorting out to do before any company IT dept is willing to do a
production install.
