Hi,

After going to windows=>freeze panes. I freeze the top
row, but now when I use the find function I get the error
message "microsoft excel cannot find the data you're
searching for. If you are certain the data exists in the
current sheet, check what you typed and try again". But
when I disable the freeze pane option, the find function
works again. What I'm I doing wrong.

Thanks,
gemann

I just tried that in xl2002 and it worked ok.

What version of excel are you using? Maybe someone can verify that it's a
problem in that version (or even say that it works???)

I'm using Excel from Office 2000. The save type is
Microsoft Excel 97-2000 & 5.0/95 workbook.xls

Cannot replicate this problem in XL97 or 2002. Something else is happening.

Wait a while. Bob U. will come up with one of his "have you noticed when you
have your shoes on the wrong feet and you're wearing a green shirt given to
you by your Aunt Betty Excel will.............."

gemann,

Probably not related, but I've noticed that when I hide columns (so
the user wont see some data), then use vba code to find something in a
hidden col it fails.
Within the sub I have to unhide the col, Find, then re-hide the col.

do you have anything like this going on?

Make sure your cursor isn't in the frozen row before you
use "find." Now tell me how you managed to freeze just the
top row. I can't seem to do it.
