My old XP computer MB has died and I have built a new computer with new MB,
HD, memory, etc. and I plan to install a new XP Pro OS. I have read about
using the F&S wizard to move files and settings from an old, functioning
computer to a new one; but will it work if only the old HD is accessible? I
plan on mounting the old HD in the new computer temporarily. I have not
found a utility that says specifically it can do this.
Thanks for any help.

You have to be able to logon as the user in question to migrate their files
with the built in FAST wizard.

If I were you - and you are starting from scratch anyway - I would just put
the old hard drive in after you get done installing and copty what you
really need.. Your files, folders and favorites, etc. All the rest is a
checkbox here and there and such.

Take Ownership of said files...

You could try a ghosting tool., Norton ghost is good and you should be able
to get a trail copy to do it for free. You just need a CD/DVD writer or a USB
hard disk and Ghost does all the hard work for you.
