Just curious: Do any of you use Dreamweaver to design your basic sites
and Fp to manage them?

Yup. All the time.

Note however it can sometimes be tricky to get the stuff to work after you
have opened it in FP.

Also note, you don't go back and forth.. creating a template page and so on
in DW then editing the site in FP is a one way street. Open it in DW again
and it'll usually blow the page up.

I bounce back and forth. The main thing to remember is to refresh the
FrontPage IDE (F5) if you have both open at the same time, or you will get
into a fight that can get fairly nasty.

I don't really like that idea very much and think you should stay with one
or the other. I use both but never both with one site. Dreamweaver does a
fine job of managing sites too.

Thanks Eleanor,
What is the criteria you use to decide which one to use?
btw, I am frontpage proficient and dreamweaver illiterate!

I use FP for 4 sites I haven't switched over to DW. Otherwise all the others
and especially the new onces ar DW..... just to be consistent. To me, DW
offers so much more, has many 'extensions' (extra capabilities) - not
defined the way FP does. I believe that the 2003 new version of FP will be
much more like Dreamweaver ... but like DW 4, not Macromedia's DWMX2004 ...
so FP is a bit behind. DW is much harder to learn because of the entirely
different interface ... I just like it better now. But I continue to always
say that good websites can be built with either..... it's not the program,
it's not the camera, it's not the paint brush ... !!!
Dreamweaver is a constant challenge for me and that's why I got it in the
first place. Now my challenge is to learn to use CSS properly and DWMX2004
is much better for that than FP, I think.... at least I'm beginning to get
the hang of it!
Stick with FP or challenge yourself with DW ... but, I still say it's better
to use one or the other on a site... not go back and forth within that site.

Thanks for the in depth response!
I have the Mx Version and I think I will give it a try.
I have been using FP for a few years and Fp 2003 for a couple of
months,
I have no complaints, but DW designed pages almost always
look better from what I have seen.

Do you have any good links that you have found especially
useful that will help me get started?

Larry, please contact me at (e-mail address removed) The FP ng isn't the place
for me to respond any further about this. I'll be happy to help you.
