Hi,

How do I autonumber paragraphs using the numbering patten like this:

Step 1: Planning
Step 2: Package Retrieval
Step 3: Installation
Step 4: Configuration

etc.

Step number should be automatically increased when I create a new paragraph,
but at the same time I should be able to alter step name (like "Planning",
"Installation").

Can this be achieved in Word 2003?

Thanks!

The article Graham referenced is really targeted toward using text without
numbers. For your purposes, you just need to add "Step" before the
autonumber field in the "Number format" box of the numbering dialog and
change the period, if any, following the number to a colon. Set the number
to be followed by a space rather than a tab.

Yes, that is exactly what I wanted. I just found the solution myself. Anyway,
thanks!

Graham: sorry, your link is correct. There was an extra space after the .htm
extension.
