Hi,

Does anyone know if using Access 2002 would be a good
idea for an office database? We're using an old legacy
database (RBase) right now and we're looking to upgrade.
I wasn't sure how Access was with multiple users. Please
let me know. Thanks.

It will depend on how many users and how much data. Access is not designed
to be an enterprise level database management system. It will, however,
handle reasonable amounts of data for multiple concurrent users if properly
designed, as Kevin has told you. It also, as you probably know already,
comes with a built in development environment that is designed to allow "the
rest of us" to set up tables, queries, forms, reports, etc.
If you can provide some statistics on the size of the system to be replaced
(tables - rows in each table, and number of concurrent users) that will help
you get a yes/no recommendation.

I've designed office databases using Access for a number of users - about
10 - each with there own log in - with careful design you can do a good few
more than that. One database I designed - we took legacy data from RBase -
it was fine. Send your people on a good Access VBA course, also get them to
study Access security.
