Using a programmed keyboard to get to Favorites?

I just got a keyboard that has a Favorites button that will launch the
browser IE6 and then it will put a Favorites window on the left side
of the browser. But I hate to lose the real estate viewing favorites
that way. I prefer to pull them down from the top File Edit View
Favorites Tools Help bar. That way the Favorites pulldown goes away
after I select a favorite. Is there any way to get this behavior,
instead of the Favorites window, in a programmed key?

In IE: Press Alt-a

Anywhere else (provided Favorites is in the Start menu):
