Using a Camcorder as a display device using Firewire

Hi

I've got a few friends who have said that I should be
able to use my Sony TRV22 as a display device like any
normal computer monitor using the DV in (Firewire port).
My reasons for wanting to do this are so I can record
some 3d gaming off my computer on to the camcorder then
play it back later for editing.

I am running:
Windows XP pro
Soundblaster Audigy (this has the firewire port on it)
Radeon 9700pro graphics

I have installed all the latest drivers for the graphics
card and sound card and windows has just had a fresh
install and been patched up too.

I am told that under the settings tab of my display
properties, on the drop down menu it should (when the
camcorder is turned on in VCR mode and connected using
firewire) display the camcorder as a display device thus
allowing me to then record what is displayed on screen.

My computer refuses to acnoledge the camcorder as a
display device. All other firewire functions work
perfectly, data transfer, video editing and recording.

I've never heard of that feature, although videocameras can easily be
used as web cameras and can display images on the computer monitor with
readily-available software.

Your friends should be able to point you to a URL for the software that
will send video display images across a firewire port to a recorder.
More likely you can find software that will record streams from the
video display or from a selected window into a file for later editing
with software. The camera don't enter into it.

I don't believe you can output the computer display through a firewire port.
