I have an XP machine that has a wireless NIC and a wired NIC. I want to use
both at the same time. One to access the internet and one to access another
computer. It is connected to the other computer directly. It seems that
Windows only uses the network connection that is listed first
alphabetically. If I disable the wireless connection I can access the other
computer just fine. When it is enabled(and listed first) I can't access the
other computer. Anyone have an idea on what I need to do?

Most wireless routers have 4 wired ports on them - the easy solution is just
to wire the second computer to the wireless router rather than your XP
computer so you have just one network, or maybe this not practical for some
reason in which case I do not know how to do it.

Yeah. That is not practical. I have to be connected to two networks at the
same time. I read around and found out that I should probably bridge the
connections but I can't figure it out. It doesn't work for me. :S

Bridging is not intended for your internal NICS, thats probably what you are
trying to do, thats why its not working. Windows does not stop you from
accessing two different networks using two different NICs. You need to make
sure your second NIC is using the correct IP and subnet to connect to the
second network. Is the second network connected just via a crossover cable
or HUB?

Your problem is that you probably use the same IP range and subnet on both
nics in the one machine. I have one wi-fi and one wired in this machine and
it works. I have one on the usual 192.168.0.x and 255.255.255.0 and the
wi-fi on 169.254.140.x and 255.255.0.0. Try doing similar if you NEED to
assign IPs for Internet for some reason or if it is all auto assigned for
Internet, just make sure the wi-fi is on a different range and subnet to the
wired.
