Hi everyone

I manage:

LAN: 60 machines under NT4sp6 + pdc NT4sp6 + bdc NT4sp6.
All machines are connected to a Hub ethernet 10 Mbit.
They are also in dual boot Linux / WinNT 4.0.
Protocol: TCP/IP
PDC is an old HP Netserver 133 LC ( Pentium 133, 128 RAM, 4 Gb)
BDC is a Pentium II 266 Mhz 128 Ram.
Clients machines in the network are pc-based Pentium II/III ( 400 / 450
Mhz ) and Pentium IV.

The problem is that it takes 3 to 5 mns for users to log in after validation
of the Passwords and the start of the connection script.

Event Viewer does not give any particular problem.

Please can you help?

Many thanks

I know Chris. Thanks for reminding me. I tried WindowsNt.domain and
WindowsNt.Protocol.TCP/IP Newsgroups but to no avail. I then thought that I
may find someone in XP newsgroup who would give me some feedback. So I
posted my problem to this newsgroup.

I hope this clarifies.

For problems like this ... best bet is to call in some "fresh" eyes by
getting a qualified networking/computer consultant. Your company can
afford it. Probably can sort it in less than a a day and also provide
other recommendations for your consideration. Won't be effective, I
think, to debug this in a newsgroup (especially this one). My hunch is
is the root-cause of why you saw no responses to your query.
