Users and Volume Control

Since XP has the ability to have "personal" settings by switching users,
which ois pretty cool. Then why isn't the volume personal? Mine seems to be
global.

I've instructed my teenaged daughter to leave the electro-mechanical speaker
dial alone. She likes to listen to music while using AOL IM. Then I like
the thing muted when I am using the thing. We switch users back and forth.
during the evening. But whomever has set the digital volume last (lower
right taskbar, stays for all users).

Ridiculous. Everything has personal settings except the volume control.
I'm starting to think that this technology is not ready for the public at
large.

Any suggestions?

It's a mechanical setting in the device that is not within the pervue of the
operating system. You will simply have to check that it's turned down before
you begin using the system. Certain things are global to all users, the
parameters of individualizing them is to vast.

She's your daughter, you are her father.

Who's in charge ?

The technology works fine, it's the daughter that's not
working correctly.
