Hi guys.
This is not a huge problem, but one that piqued my interest.

Today I installed WinXP on my brother-in-laws PC. Immediately following the
installation, during the "Lets take a few minutes setting up your
computer" phase, I was prompted to enter the names of all the people who
are going to be using the PC (as normally occurs).
I entered their names then clicked the "next" button and received an error.
I don't have the exact wording but it was something to the effect of "User
names cannot be 'Administrator', 'John' or contain the characters $,
#,%..etc."
I can understand Adminstrator being rejected (it already exists at this
point) but it appears that the name 'John' was rejected, but later accepted
when I went into the User applet in Control Panel and added it there. I
have done literally hundreds of installs of XP and never seen this before.
I tried another install on a virtual machine (from the same installation
disc) and cannot reporoduce the error. Searching the web and usenet also
came up empty.

Has anyone else seen this before and, if so, what combination of events
makes it occur?

Thanks
Andy.

You are an idiot. Please do something constructive. Suicide would be a good
start.
