User setup in XP

I just reinstalled XP (Pro) because my system crashed.
Initially, I have only one user, Adam (as admin).

With new installation, I was prompted to create a user
name. I then created "Mike" as the only user (as admin
too).

I've checked "c:\Documents and Settings" and I can see
that Adam folder is still there, but Win XP can not see
Adam as a user.

Is there any way I can reactivate Adam as a user?

Thank you so much in advance.

Sounds more like you did a repair or parallel install than a true
re-install. (Considering your files still exist.)

My suggestion is to first (as Mike) take ownership of the adam directory and
move it somewhere other than Documents and Settings for safety of the stuff
there. Then create a new Adam user (Admin) and log in as them. Use the
Adam user to take ownership of the now moved Adam folder and copy what you
need out of it (your documents, your favorites, etc) and move it into the
NEW Adam user directory. You will get a cleaner profile this way and truly,
things will go much smoother.
