I purchased a new computer (Dell Dimension 4700) on lease arrangement. I now
own it and cannot remove the company's name form the system's "user "
profile. ( I have Windows XP.) This is preventing me from performing certain
tasks. How can I get rid of the company's name that I leased from since I
now own it outright. I've tried everything I could think of, but I have
limited knowledge. Thanks.

Many ways - but the easiest and cleanest (do you know if you were the only
one to ever lease it?) woud be backup your stuff, format and reinstall
everything.

I shuddered when I read your reply to my question. Only because that sounds
like a massive and tricky operation. I'm afraid I'll seriously screw up my
computer...I've done it before (unfortunately) to my old one. I only know
enough about computers to be dangerous...so I hesitate. I know what you mean
by backing up my stuff and I know reinstalling, but I'm not sure what you
mean my format. Are you sure I can't mess this up and ruin my computer?
Also, I'm the only one to lease it in answer to your question.
