I recently re-instaled windows xp home. On installation, I did not create
any username or passwords. All worked fine for 3 weeks or so. Now, when
booting-up I get prompted to select a user name. Problem is, NO user account
options are available to select from.
I have surfed the user forum for some guidance. Unfortunately, none of the
solutions I found there solve the problem. When I hit "control-alt-delete",
a dialogue box with user name "general" (I am pretty sure this is what I
designated upon install) and a prompt for password appears. When I change
username to 'Administrator' and leave password blank, it does not allow me in.
I would like to be able to bypass, so I can then reconfigure user names, but
I can't even gett othat point. Also, becasue I can not log-in ot save my
data to a back-up drive, if I re-install all data on this harddrive will be
lost.
How can I get around this? Thanks for any advice.
