User environment

I am not very computer savey. so here goes. When I try to log onto to my
computer I get this user environment message that states windows cannot log
you on... I have tried to restore to an early date but this does not work.
message restore could not be completed. also when I try to use windows media
player it does not work. is this a virus if so what can be done?

If you can't logon, how was it you were able to try a system restore or use
windows media player?
