Just converted Windows 2000 to XP and was prompted to log
in as Administrator. My usual account for working on
this computer has another name, lets call it "Leonard".
When I try to change to user "Leonard", there is only the
Administrator icon to pick. In "Control Panel" - User
Accounts, I only see Administrator, Guest, ASP.NET
Machine. When I try to user "Leonard", I get the
message: "An account named 'Leonard' already exists. Type
a different name".

Can my user profile be restored, or did the conversion
trash it?

Your user account still exists! You simply need to change
the way you log in in order to access it. Assuming you
use 'Category View' for your Control Panel:

1. Go to the Control Panel
2. Go to User Accounts
3. Change the way users log on/off
4. Uncheck 'use the welcome screen'
5. Apply Options/OK
6. Log off
7. Log on again, typing 'leonard' as your use name.

Hope this helps!

Elvin
