I was going through my system and noticed an "Unknown Account" in the User
Accounts section of XP. I'm wondering if this is a common occurance and if I
can safely delete it, because I have. LOL. I have no idea where it came from
and why it's even there. Was wondering maybe it was from the high-speed
installer guy? Or maybe from some setup or Windows Update? Maybe a virus or
trojan or maybe I've been hacked? I can't recall when the first time I saw it
there or if it was even there when I bought my computer(new from FutureShop).
But I have deleted it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also there was another account I just noticed yesterday(Aug. 22, '04) which
was called "ASP.NET 1.1.4322.0" something or other. CAn someone tell what
this is? Does it have something to do with downloading SP2? Or is it a
remnant from some previous update configuration. I have deleted this one
also.
Please help.
Thanks.

Not sure about your new "User" account, could be the installer. The asp
thing is the .net framework (which is going to be used more and more as time
goes on) and is installed along with that when you run the download from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en
Go into safe mode, you should have "Administrator" plus whatever user names
you have set up plus a guest account if active.. You can cancel whatever
ones you don't want. The asp.net is not doing anything and I would leave it
as is. (It should be password protected anyway and requires no action)
