I am the admin on XP----when I log in it works fine. When My son with limited access logs in, it runs very slow he cant log onto IM---or the internnet. When I do scan/defrag/virus scanning etc...Does this appy to the entire computer?
any suggestions.... Also we did have a virus which we have contained ..would this effect only his user name?
Thankyou

Greetings,

Doing Virus scans, defragging will affect the whole system, your current
installtion of XP. Have you tried checking you got spyware installed on your
pc:

Read the following website which explains
on how to remove spyware:

http://users.onvol.net/118226-2/xpez/articles/remove_spyware.html

"Try these programs to check for any spyware that may be on your system:

Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

Try SpyWareBlaster to stop intrusions:

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Also see the following links:

http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
http://www.microsoft.com/security/articles/spyware.asp"

Thanks and best of luck!

Thanks.. I used to have ad aware.. but to be honest.. I did not know if I was using it right.. when I ran it..and it showed all the possible intrusions. I was never sure what I was really deleting... I had to re do my entire OS back in June. I have been OK since I got the backdoor trojan last Friday. * yes right thru Norton* I know have installed a program from Stopsign.com.. and used to have AVG.. but dont like that .. it wont even let me uninstall AVG.... I just still dont understand how my useer name works fine and my son's does not.
Thanks all the same. Maybe I should re-install adaware?
