You have 3 options for this;
Method 1
=========
You can configure Windows XP to automate the logon process if your computer
is not
part of a domain.
1. Click Start, click Run, and type control userpasswords2.
2. Clear the Users must enter a username and password to use this computer
check
box. Click Apply.
3. Enter the user name and password you wish to automatically log on with,
and then
click OK.
4. Click OK again and you're all done.
This feature allows other users to start your computer and use the account
that you
establish to automatically log on. Enabling auto logon makes your computer
more
convenient to use, but can pose a security risk.

Method 2
=========
Step 1 Download and install Tweak UI:
Tweak UI is an application provided by Microsoft. With this tool, one can
customize
the user interface of Windows XP easily.
1.Download Tweak UI from the following link:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoyS
etup.exe
2. Double-click the downloaded .exe file to install Tweak UI.
Step 2:
1. Run Tweak UI
2. Expand Logon, and click Autologon.
3. Check Logon automatically at System Startup.
4. Click OK.
5. Restart the computer.
Method 3
=========
1. Click Start, click Run, type "regedit" (without the quotation marks),and
then
click OK to start Registry Editor.
2. Locate the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
3. Using your account name and password, double-click the DefaultUserName
entry,
type your user name, and then click OK.
4. Double-click the DefaultPassword entry, type your password under the
value data
box, and then click OK.
If there is no DefaultPassword value, follow these steps to create the
value:
a- On the Registry Editor menu, click Edit, click New, and then click
String
Value.
b- Type "DefaultPassword" (without the quotation marks) as the value name,
and
then press ENTER.
c- Double-click the newly created key, and then type your password in the
Value
Data box.
If no DefaultPassword string is specified, Windows automatically changes the
value
of the AutoAdminLogon key from 1 (true) to 0 (false) to disable the
AutoAdminLogon
feature.
5. Double-click the AutoAdminLogon entry, type "1" (without the quotation
marks)
in the Value Data box, and then click OK.
If there is no AutoAdminLogon entry, follow these steps to create the entry:
a- On the Registry Editor menu, click Edit, click New, and then click
String
Value.
b- Type "AutoAdminLogon" (without the quotation marks) as the value name,
and
then press ENTER.
c- Double-click the newly created key, and then type "1" (without the
quotation
marks) in the Value Data box.
6. Quit Registry Editor.
7. Click Start, click Restart, and then click OK.
8. After your computer restarts and Windows starts, you can log on
automatically.
