User accounts and desktop

Help. I don't get it. I have two user accounts on my XP
Home operating system, one the administrator account and
the other a limited account. Each has desktop
icons/shortcuts. If I delete a shortcut icon from one
user account/desktop, it also disappears from the other
user account/desktop. I thought XP automatically kept
the user accounts separate, so that changing one desktop
doesn't affect the other. What am I doing wrong?

Some icons are assigned to "all users." Only administrators can add, change
or remove these but everyone will see them.

Have a look in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop folder.
Compare it to C:\Documents and Settings\__Your name___\Desktop

The Start Menu works the same way.
