We recently opened a new user account on the computer but microsoft word does
not show up in the list of programs although it has in all the other
accounts. Have we done something wrong and how can we remedy the situation?

Put a shortcut to Word in the new user's profile at:

c:\documents and settings\username\desktop

Right-click on the Start button and choose Explore All Users. This will
show you all the users' Start Menus. Find the shortcut to Word from one
of the other user's Start Menu, right-click/drag/copy to your new
user's Start Menu.
