Andy

Please help!!

We have 5 users all setup, all with admin rights using
home XP and with all the updates installed

In the past when one of us installed a program another
user would be able to use it from their account with no
problems

But now either new programs dont seem to configure
properley or the program asks the user to install the
program again even though it is already installed by
another user!! And then looks to uninstall it!! Yet the
original user who installed it has no problems at all in
running it

Any help would be greatly appreciated! cheers!!

Hi andy

you may know about registry, installation and so on

Briefly:

When you install a program depending on THAT INSTALLER and that program's
structure, it install itself for all accounts or the current user and it's
not an issue,

That is a lot of help. Did you learn that at the school of A holes.

The right answer is Copy the shortcut or the whole sub folder created for
the program from the user account that installed the program "C:\Docs &
Settings\Username\Start Menu\Programs" to the "AllUsers\Start Menu\Programs"
folder under Doc & Settings. If other users still have a problem running the
program then you need to give them rights to run the program. This shouldn't
be a problem if all the users are Administrators.
