I just reinstalled the XP Os and everything else, got it all configured - at
great effort, and the only account that showed on the desktop was called
Administrator. So I created a new account with a name like SamJ. Then the
Administrator account disappeared, or I did something to cause it not to
show. The SamJ account needs to have everything re-installed in it. Oh man,
I don't have the time...

In windows explorer I see an account with my name on it, like Samuel
Johnson, with all the programs there.

I try to create a new account, Samuel Johnson, hoping to be able to retrieve
the programs and settings, but it tells me that account already exists, but
it doesn't show up when I try to logoff and switch accounts.

Can anyone tell me how to get the Samuel Johnson account to show up, so that
I can switch to it, and not have to re-install everything under the SamJ
account?

To Logon as Default Administrator on Pro Edition, from Welcome screen, press
Ctrl-Alt-Delete, Twice , type "Administrator" or "Samuel Johnson" and use a
blank password

(on Home edition - boot to Safe mode - F8 on restart , same logon)

This does not work for me! My ALL user accounts have also disappeared from
the Windows welcome screen of XP Pro. Please help me since I can work with my
laptop.

run from a boot to CD and Recovery Console (press 'r' for Repair), the
command:
(cd drive letter here):/i386/expand.exe (cd drive letter
here):/i386/winlogon.ex_ %windir%/system32/winlogon.exe

Sorry, it says 'The command is not recognized. ...' I also tried
c:\windows\system32\expand. It says 'Unable to expand..' ???
Your help would be apreciated very much!
