Up until I did the updates for Windows XP Home Edition, I
used to be able to get to my desktop without having to go
through the log in page. Now, after the updates, I have
to click on Owner just to get to my desktop. I have DSL
and I hardly ever read the updates I put on there, so I
ended up downloading this ridiculous update even after I
reformatted my hard disk for unrelated reasons. I looked
at the Add/Remove Programs list to see if I can locate
the malicious little devil (Hotfix) that did this update,
but I could not find it. This is truly a pain in the
butt and I would really love to get rid of this. Please,
please email me if you have any suggestions on how to get
rid of it. My email is (e-mail address removed)
Thank you.

This problem happens if you have installed the .NET Framework update from
Microsoft windowsupdates page.

Microsoft windowsupdates page. You need to configure Windows to
automatically login:

Click Start, Run and type "control userpasswords2", and click Ok.
Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"
option, and click Ok.
