Hello,

I have a Win2000 system networked to a Win98Se computer.

As the administrator - I can access files from shared folders on the
Win98
machine. In My Network places the admin and user can see the shared
folder.

As a regular users, a regular user cannot access it. An admin can.

Where do I configure windows 2000 to allow a regular user to access the
Win98 machine? I do not want to give admin right or power user rights.
Can I modify the share to allow the user as well? Or does that have
to be done on the Win98 machine?

Thanks,

Tmuld.

What happens when you try? Win98 has no security to prevent this.

The Win98 machine has certain folders setup as just a generic share -
no permissions or specifications for users. So basically anyone on
the network can see and access files.

I thought the admin or user on Win2k should not make a difference.

Does this help?

No. The Win98 machine just has the folder shared - no specifications
of users. So anyone should be able to access it (or so I thought).

When it was setup up originally, I did not state only administrators
could get to it. I did restrict access to who can access the Win2000
machine though.

Suggestions?

Tmuld

Yes, correct. The user on Windows 2000 wouldn't make a difference.
