Use of .mov files

Why isn´t it possible to use .mov files in Movie Maker
Does anyone have a proposal about which videoformat I can use insted with the same picturequality?
 
See the Importing Source Files > Video > MOV page of www.papajohn.org for a
couple links to software to use to convert the files.

MM2 can't use them without conversion first.
