when using a contact as an email recipient in Outlook 2002, the display name
has '(E-Mail)' or the like appended to it.
is there any way to get outlook to use the contact's 'clean' full name as
the display name and not append the extra garbage ?

The (email) designation following the address can not be removed through any
of the menu or options screens. There are ways to be rid of it however:
1. Go to contact folder. Choose contact by right clicking and select "New
message to Contact."
2. Modify the resources of the contab32.dll file. See:
http://www.slipstick.com/exchange/outlhow2.htm#contab

Well isn't that just plain ridiculous - software designed by the computer
illiterati.

Thanks for the response Russ.

Outlook stopped doing this after Outlook 2000. Did you create these Contacts
in an earlier version?
