If I have a USB1 PCI card, will it be possible for me to use a USB 2.0 hub and will I need certain updates/drivers from Microsoft to use the hub with Windows XP?
USB 2.0 Hubs are generally backwards compatible, so it should work. No
extra drivers should be needed, but I highly recommend buying a USB 2.0
PCI Card as they aren't very expensive and you will see a huge
performance increase (and will probably need it further down the road).
You will NOT get USB 2.0 speeds by doing this. The USB 2.0 Hub will run
as a USB 1.0/1.1 Hub and only offer 12 Mbps or about 1.5 MB/s.
