hi, this new computer runs usb series 2 ports. my d-link modem is only a
series 1 and we are having conflict issues where it cuts out by itself even
tho it says it is running ok. how do we "turn" back the usb ports to be
series 1 to stop this issue? any help would be appreciated thanx!

Don't think it's possible to do what you invisage, but do yourself a
favour and connect your Dlink via ethernet.

It is possible that your USB Root Hub is configured to allow the computer to
turn off power to your D-Link. In Device Management under the section for
USB controllers the Properties of each Root Hub have a Power Management tab
where you can set the power management configuration.

USB 2.0 ports are fully compatible with USB 1.1 devices.
