USB Trouble.

I custom built my computer using a Intel P4 motherboard and have WINXP for my OS, I am having problems detecting hardware and USB items. It acts as if I don't have anything plugged in. I have unistalled and reinstalled the drivers, and have tried to update I get an error saying can not install driver because I do not have the software. Please help!!!
 
Do you have any problem areas in the Device Manager ? Is the hardware
connected through usb connection ? Jym

Reinstalling the latest board drivers may fix your problem. Jym

shows I have errors.. when displaying my USB there is a yellow question mark
unidetified connection... having errors because the drive is not installed
needs proper software its not the camera because I have installed it on
another computer just fine.

i suddenly can not hotsync my palm pilot since my new sony vaio computer saya that he is not recognising my usb
please not its only with my palm pilot , all other things works perfect with the usb,
i did uninstall for my usb now how do i install it back ?
