I have a tracker ball manuafactored by www.penny-gilescp.co.uk when I plug
it WinXPpro It works first time, when I look in device managed I have the
following listed in device manager

[Human Interface Devices]
[USB Human Interface Device]

and

[Mice and other pointing devices]
[HID-compliant mouse]
[PS/2 Compatible Mouse]

I have added two components to my XP Build HID-Compliant Mouse and USB Human
Interface Device

I get a ping next to the USB Human Interface Device and the HID-compliant
Mouse does not install at all, it seems as I have missed some information
out (like the file containing the PnP ID for this devices) thus it can't
install it, has anyone got any suggestions please?

Thanks in advance.

Wayne

Wayne,

Have you tried installing this mouse driver on regular XP
Pro? Does it work?

Even if the INF imported properly, you maybe missing some
PnP Linkage keys. This has happened with the touch screen
driver - linking the touchscreen to the mouse class
driver. Check to see if your missing the registry entries
for the HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Class and
HKLM\System\ControlSet001\deviceclasses linkages. I would
compare XP Pro installation vs. XPe registry entries.
