usb to serial cable

i have a pl- 2303. xp doesnt recongnise it.cant find any drivers for it yet,since the manfacture website is down.
can anyone help?is a prolific usb to serial adapter?
 
company website is up, though not very helpful. Did this device come with
some serial peripheral? If so, do you have the peripheral's driver
installed?

got a cd with it.did instal the driver as shown,but xp didnt recognise it as a device?just shows it as a unknown device..
 
What are you connecting with this usb/serial adpater? Is the driver written
for XP?
