usb phone wont load

I have a usb robotics 9601 usb phone that I was trying to use on skype, but
when I plug it in it makes the little noise and acknowledges it is plugged
in but says the drivers are not loaded and wants to search for a driver, I
have contacted us robotics and they say there is no driver to install, that
windows should install it automatically. I tried it on a machine at a local
computer shop, and it istalled just fine. Just something funny going on with
my machine. which by the way is running xp pro sp2. Anyone have any ideas?

this is the instruction manual that came with phone. tried everything in
there nothing works.
