usb mass storage problem

Hi this what my computer is saying about my usb hard driv
"One of the USB devices attached to this computer ha
malfuctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.

on my second computer the usb drive is working grea

XP pro
the usb disk is NTFS (cause I work with video
 
I am also having trouble with Xp recognizing my acomdata external hard drive. ive gotten it to work on other computers, but not mine. ive tried all sorts of things but could not get xp to load drivers and recognize the device

any suggestions

I am also having the same problem. Updated from Win 2000 to XP Pro and now my USB external drives don't show up. I have a Lacie and 2 buslinks. All the data shows up if I use a trial of a recovery program but the drive doesn't show up under My Computer. Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thought I was safe with 3 backups.
