USB hub for PPC died on XP Pro upgrade

I upgraded my PC from WinXP Home to WinXP Pro. There were a few problems
with the MS installer and validation tool, but all seems OK now, that is
until I put my Pocket PC into the cradle to synchronize it. It didn't
recognize it. After lots of other useless actions I realized that four of
my six USB ports now no longer function.

I have tried updating the BIOS on the Intel 845 chipset, and tried to add
new hardware, but it doesn't recogize they are gone.

How can I test the USB ports, and what can I do to re-activate them? Two in
the front and two in the back died. Two in the back are OK, but they are
for the mouse and keyboard.

Thanks,

Mich

You might want to reconsider your decision and start over... If your
having problems with the upgrade some of your hardware might not be
enabled in the device manager...

I would try just loading windows from scratch

I ran the Chipset identifier, and did the latest updates from Intel.
Nothing changed....

Are there any other ways to activate these ports again? In Device Manager I
only see two USB ports listed, and in Add hardware, under show all devices,
under Intel or Intel Corporation I don't see this same kind of port as an
option to install. It doesn't auto-detect them either.

Start/Administrative tools/Computer management/Device manager. Then right
click on Universal Serial Bus controllers and select 'Scan for hardware
changes'.

This worked! I ended up with another USB Hub listed, and when I added the
flash drive it showed up immediately.

Thanks!
