I posted a question a couple of days ago about files that appear to have
disappeared from my hard drive. Now I can't find the question let alone the
answer so I will ask it again and hope I can find my way back here.
I have a USB drive enclosure into which I inserted an old drive to try to
rescue the data files. I can see the drive. I can open all desktops except
the one I want. The one I want was the only Administrator user and the only
user with a password. How do I find the missing files?

I don't see any posts by you in the recent past. If you can't find a post
search for it using Google Groups Advanced Search searching for your name as
author. Maybe you submitted it to a different newsgroup or under a
different name? This newsgroup is microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

Guess who posted one of the replies <G>. No it wasn't eitherof us <G>!

His original post was in another newsgroup, Gerry,
microsoft.public.certification, as it turns out, and I know I didn't reply.
I didn't do a Google search, that's for the OP to do, I just checked what
was on my computer and that's why it didn't show up. I don't monitor that
newsgroup. Not sure why the OP posted to that one.

I just see comments like this " I posted a question a couple of days
ago about files that appear to have disappeared from my hard drive" as
a challenge. I guess the guy needs a satnav or a better newsreader!

BTW as it is your wont to bottom post can you just occasionally snip?

Can you just occasionally bottom post per the Usenet norm? I snip your sig
all the time.

Ok, I'll stick to this group. I tried taking ownership. When I start in
safemode the usb ports aren't recognized so I can't access a usb hard drive.
When I try to install the drive as a slave the computer won't boot. Any
other ideas?
