USB Flash Drive Problems

Hello.

All my drive letters are free after D:, which is being used by the cd rom
drive. I will insert my flash drive, and the windows menu comes up asking me
what to do with the USB drive. I can open and look in there from that menu
fine. If I go to Start > run > "explorer e:", I can browse the e: drive. When
I am in a program and want to save something, I can save to the E: drive.
When I go to disk management and check the volume, it is mounted and assigned
the letter E:.

However, if I double click on 'My Computer', the E: drive does not show up.
Not for this flash drive, or any other.

The only thing that fixed this last time was reimaging this machine. Does
anyone have any ideas?

Thank you!

What type of flask drive are you using, and is there any 3rd party software
associated with it?

It's with a few different types of flash drives. There is no third party
software. Thanks.

This is actually on two computers which are part of a network, and we cannot
load third party software.

It should also be noted that I tried assigning it as R:, and all functions
were normal as usual, except for showing up in the my computer panel.

Download TweakUI from here.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/default.mspx

Once installed and run, look in the My Computer section (I believe it is)
and make sure the E drive letter is not hidden.

FWIW Microsoft isn't third party. otherwise you will need to edit the
registry. I suggest you get your IT personnel involved.
